April 26, 2012, Tokyo, Japan – Supporters of former Democratic Party of Japan leader Ichiro Ozawa celebrates his acquittal in a trial over his alleged involvement in a political funding scandal in front of the Tokyo District Court on Thursday, April 26, 2012. Ozawa was found not guilty on charges of false political funds reporting. The trial has focused on whether Ozawa conspired with three former aides to submit false reports for the 69-year-old kingpin’s fund management body in connection with a land purchase in 2004. A team of lawyers, serving as prosecutors in the trial, sought a prison term of three years without labor for Ozawa, arguing the former aides could not have engaged in false reporting without his approval. Ozawa has pleaded not guilty to the charges, claiming he left everything in the hands of his secretaries. (Photo by Natsuki Sakai/AFLO)
