Tokyo, Japan – Japan’s Trade and Industry Minister Yuko Obuchi meets the media at the ministry in Tokyo on Monday, October 20, 2014. Obuchi, a daughter of late Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi, submitted her letter of resignation to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, taking her responsibility over the alleged misuse of political funds. The resignation will deal a severe blow to Abe, who appointed five women as new Cabinet ministers when he reshuffled his Cabinet on Sept. 3 in his bid to underline his aim of promoting the status of women in Japan.
