Valentine’s Day in Japan

February 13th, 2012 : Valentines Gifts are displayed in front of Ginza department stores in downtown Tokyo. As female workers stock up on last minute gifts for their male colleagues. In Japan, women traditionally give Valentine’s gifts to their friends, family, colleagues and boyfriends. There is a huge choice of confectionary on sale especially in the classy Ginza shopping district. Male counterparts have it much easier as they are supposed to return the favour one month later on March 14th on the White Day Festival. The men are just expected to give gifts to women who already showed them favour on Valentines Day. (Photo by Yumeto Yamazaki/AFLO)
