Yomiuri Newspaper

The Yomiuri Shimbun is considered the largest newspaper in the world by circulation. It was launched in 1876 and has an archive that stretches back through the whole modern era of Japan. They have a thorough image collection from Japan’s recent history including Japanese documentation of WWII.

We can access the newspaper records offline for specific requested topics and we also have access to much more material with Japanese only captions. Feel welcome to contact us at contact@nipponnews.net with your inquiries.

As well as the Yomiuri Shimbun archive, we also represents two other major newspaper archives through Aflo; Nikkan Sports and The Mainichi Newpaper.

For those interested in seeing more please visit our sister site (in Japanese) or check out the Yomiuri Newspaper’s own Archive pages (also in Japanese).
