Yuichi Sugimoto Speaks at the FCCJ
Tokyo, Japan – Freelance Photojournalist Yuichi Sugimoto shows the official notification from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan which denied his legal right to get his passport during a press conference at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan, February 12, 2015. Sugimoto will take legal action against the Japanese Government after they confiscated his passport to prevent him from traveling to Syria to report on the civil war there. After the murder of Japanese journalist Kenji Goto and Haruna Yukawa by ISIS, the Japanese Government does not want to allow Japanese citizens traveling to the area for safety reasons.
